Destination STEMM John Lyon’s Charity

Mentors

We are inviting STEMM professionals to sign up as mentors for our Destination STEMM-Chemical Sciences Programme to support minority ethnic students as they move from school to STEMM-focused degrees and pathways.  As a STEMM professional with a range of experience in your field, you could be ideally suited to mentoring.

This particular opportunity would provide:

  • a way to share and use your knowledge that will help talented people to realise their potential
  • a chance to step out of your normal circle and gather fresh ideas
  • experience that will allow you to develop the way you support the next generation in STEMM experts
  • the sense of wellbeing that comes with making a difference to someone’s life

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • can attend one two-hour online session of mentor training
  • can commit to 18 months of online mentoring
  • can meet with your mentee(s) once a month for at least one hour, to provide academic, professional and pastoral support. This might include helping with UCAS submissions, preparing for interviews or a visit to your workplace

You will also be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
