What Our Fellows Say
Leadership Programme fellow
The Windsor Fellowship has been pivotal in my professional and personal development. I undertook a placement at the House of Commons which enabled me to gain practical experience in a field related to my degree. This has consequently led me to a career in the Civil Service. The one-to-one mentoring support provided much-needed pastoral and professional support allowing me to navigate the challenges of transitioning from University to the workplace. The seminars and residentials were pivotal in developing my collaboration, critical thinking and practical skills. Since completing my placement, I have undertaken several roles within the Civil Service and currently leading a trade team within the Department for Business and Trade.
Mohammed Islam
John Lewis Partnership Fellow
I came out of the LPU programme with a better idea of the career I wanted and some concrete milestones to help me along that path.
After the LPU programme, I completed a Masters in International Relations at the College of Europe (Bruges), interned at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (London/Cairo), interned at the European Commission (Brussels), completed the Legal Practice Course (London) and completed a training contract at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. On completing my training, I qualified as a Solicitor. I now work for Fieldfisher LLP, where I specialise in dispute resolution.
Abdul Sattar
House of Commons Fellow
The LPU has provided a foundation for my success. I have the confidence to pitch and win new business as a direct result of the training. The programme pushes you beyond your limits – a life lesson worth learning now. It prepares you for a world outside of university and education, to embrace and learn from failures, while celebrating successes. The LPU is geared not just to showcasing yourself as an academic – but as a human being with a lot to offer.
I am now Director for Sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa for an American software company.
Nikhilkumar Adhia
Home Office Fellow
I benefited greatly from my two years on the LPU; as well as meeting some brilliant people, having a safe environment to develop professional skills and learn about the world of work was invaluable. I entered post-graduate employment with self-confidence with a desire to continue to learn and develop.
Nadiya Takolia
Southbank Centre Fellow
The LPU helped me build a strong network of really talented, intelligent peers and amazing coaches.
I now work for CDC as an Investment Analyst where I invest in African private equity funds.
Amina Adewusi
National Audit Office Fellow
My internship was an invaluable learning experience with a great work-life balance. Everybody is incredibly friendly and you’ll never be short of a helping hand.
