AIMS (Achievement, Improvement and Motivation for Students)

Overview

The AIMS programme is a school-based programme for students up to the age of 18 who are under achieving in their studies and/or exhibiting challenging behaviours. We have designed a tailored programme, in partnership with teachers and parents, that is delivered to the students as an integral part of their curriculum. Trained, experienced facilitators work with the students on a range of themes including self-esteem, effective communication, study skills, anger management and personal responsibility.

We all want our young people to get the best from their education. Raising standards of achievement for all is perhaps the surest way to safeguard the future prosperity of our communities. We know, as parents or teachers that young people sometimes need some encouragement in taking more active responsibility – and act as partners with us in the process. We also know that progress in leaps and bounds is possible where we as parents and teachers also work in partnership, and sometimes this process needs encouraging too. If you are looking for an innovative way to motivate your students towards higher achievement and strengthen the all-round education partnership, AIMS is here to help you.

The AIMS Framework

The core aim is to re-engage students with the education process, alongside clear evidence of potential, there is also the danger of under – achievement (possibly exclusion) through a lack of engagement. Through our work, we raise student aspirations and expectations, complement the work of teachers (and provide INSET if required), and enthuse parents about academic and social performance of their children.

A Tailored Approach

We will help establish a foundation for a partnership and identify precise goals to be achieved with specific groups of young people. We then design a seminar-based programme in conjunction with head teachers and heads of year, which brings parents on board and can be delivered to students as an integral part of PHSE/PSE sessions.
