Home / Programmes / The House of Lords Administration’s Ethnic Minority Internship Programme
We are rolling out a programme of initiatives aimed at elevating the voices and experiences of those from currently underrepresented backgrounds within the Parliamentary community. As part of this, we are introducing an ethnic minority0focused internship programme that provides individuals with a short-term internship within the House of Lords Administration.
The programme aims to provide development opportunities for ethnic minority individuals at the beginning of their career (or those who may be changing career), who may otherwise not consider a role at the House of Lords. It is hoped the programme will also raise the profile of the House of Lords Administration as an employer of choice and raise awareness of the breadth of roles available.
The internship programme is a great way to gain paid work experience in an exciting and unique environment at the heart of British democracy.
We are offering a paid, 1-month training internship for four individuals aged 18 and over from an ethnic minority background. You can choose to apply for placements within four Offices across the Administration.
Although the internship does not offer or guarantee a substantive role at the end of the 1-month period, the aim is for you to develop the skills and gain the experience required for a role within the House of Lords Administration, or a job elsewhere.
Training at the House of Lords means you will be at the heart of British politics, developing your skills and knowledge on how to best navigate and assist a busy and exciting workplace where British laws are made and revised. The internship is an excellent opportunity that has been designed to provide you with the understanding and ability to develop within a diverse and inclusive organisation.
Please read the specifications fully and ensure that your application addresses the skills required:
Salary: £1,792 for the month.
Location: This is a hybrid role, working on the Parliamentary Estate subject to business need. Your base will be at the Houses of Parliament in Westminster (precise office location will vary), but you will also be provided with the support and equipment to be able to work from home.
If you have any questions about the opportunity please email: internships@windsor-fellowship.org
