The Windsor Fellowship Junior Programme

What is it?

The Junior Fellowship Programme cover

The Windsor Fellowship Junior programme is a personal and academic development programme for Black and Asian minority ethnic students.

The programme consists of life skills training designed to enhance confidence, self-esteem and self-worth alongside concentrated additional support in key academic subjects (English, Science and Maths). The programme is delivered over the two years approaching GCSE exams.

In this crucial time, Junior Fellows take part in monthly one and two-day seminars, an outdoor development programme and begin to experience a taste of what university could be like by visiting a top university.

The programme is currently running in London, Birmingham, Bristol and Leeds with plans to extend it to other parts of the country.

What is the aim?

The aims of the programme are:

To improve GCSE grades achieved
To encourage students to continue with post-16 academic or vocational
education
To inform and inspire students about the career options open to them
To develop personal skills so they are effective in achieving their goals

Junior Fellows

Programme outcomes - success speaks for itself…

Taken from parents’ evaluation forms of the 2005 London Junior Fellowship programme.

“I have just seen my second son through the Fellowship. Thanks to the dedication of the Fellowship and its staff, my first son starts his medical school in mid-September at the St Bartholomew’s & the Royal London.

[My second son] liked what he saw during your trip to Oxford this year. He is determined to work hard for a place to study medicine at Oxford.”

“The fellowship is an organisation staffed by friendly professionals – right from the switchboard operator to the management. Carson Yarde and his team are top calibre educationalists, sensitive to our needs, and well directed to deliver top rate services to the pupils (and their families). Top marks!”

“The scheme and what it had to offer definitely provided [my daughter] with a further insight into the importance of striving for success, making goals, and achieving them. I would recommend the scheme to any parent.”

“We would like to thank all the staff at Windsor Fellowship, for their dedication and help. The parents’ seminars were brilliant, and they were a great learning point for us, which we will adopt with our young daughter. It was great to speak to other parents, and discuss our child’s education in detail, something that we feel is missing sometimes in schools.”
